Start with which job you actually need

Almost every hardwood floor decision in Winnipeg comes down to one question: has the finish failed, or has the wood? A finish that has worn through in the hallway while the boards underneath are sound is a one-day recoat. Wood that is scratched, stained, or bare in the traffic paths is a full sand-back, which is a different job at a different price on a different timeline. Everything else on this page is a variation on that split.

Screen and Recoat

If your floors look dull or lightly scratched but the wood underneath is sound, a screen and recoat is usually all you need, and it is the cheapest way to make them look new again.

Hardwood Floor Refinishing

When the wood itself is worn, stained, or deeply scratched, a full refinish sands the floor back to bare timber and builds the finish up again. It is the reset that makes a tired old floor look new.

Hardwood Floor Sanding and Staining

A sand-and-stain goes past the sheen and changes the colour of the wood itself. It is how a dated orange oak or a flat, pale maple becomes a floor you actually want underfoot.

Hardwood Floor Repair

Not every floor needs the whole treatment. Sometimes it is a few damaged boards, a gouge from a moved appliance, or a cracked plank that needs replacing before anything else happens.

Water Damaged Hardwood Floor Repair

Boards lifting or cupping at the edges are the classic sign of water under a floor. Caught early, a lot of it can be saved. Left alone, it spreads through the subfloor and the bill grows with it.
